Maui County Emergency Rental Assistance Program

Overview

The program provides rent and utilities assistance for low-income households that have been hit hardest financially by COVID-19. Qualified households will receive support for up to 12 months for rent, utilities or both.

Eligibility Information

The program requires a qualifying household to: Show financial harm from the pandemic, such as qualifying for unemployment, job loss, reduction in wages, or increase in household expenses. Show at least one household member is at risk of losing their housing. Be below the income limits. First priority will be given to applicants who qualify: With a household income less than 50% of the area median income for Maui County; OR If a household member has been unemployed for the past 90 days at the time of application AND is still unemployed at the time of application. Second priority will be given to applicants who qualify: With a household income less than 80% of the area median income for Maui County;

All applicants are required to submit an online pre-screening application. Once the pre-screening application is received and reviewed, applicants will be contacted with further guidance on next steps.
